Understanding the 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX)

The 4DX methodology is centered around four core disciplines: Focus, Leverage, Engagement, and Accountability. It involves a collaborative approach that includes both top-level strategy and ground-level execution. The philosophy emphasizes that leaders should facilitate but not micromanage, empowering teams to align their specific goals with the organization's overarching objectives.
How Simplamo Complements 4DX

Setting Up Simplamo with a 4DX Framework
Step 1: Registration
Start by creating a Simplamo account, following the step-by-step guide here to ensure complete setup.
Step 2: Setting up your Vision (WIGs)
Utilize Simplamo's Vision feature to articulate both long-term and short-term WIGs. This process involves identifying core values, core business, 10-year-goals, marketing strategy, and 3-year objectives.
In the Vision page, you will Answer the 5 questions:
- What are your Core values?
- What is your Core Business?
- What is your 10-year goal? —> Wildly important goal
- What is your Marketing strategy?
- What are your 3-year goals? —> Wildly important goal
FOCUS PAGE
In the Focus Page is where you can focus on:
Question 6: What are your 1-year goals? —> Wildly important goal in 1 year . Including:
- Revenue & profit target
- 3-7 Goal for the year
The 2 remain questions on Focus Page are:
- Question 7: What are your priority goals in 90 days? —> This is similar to setting up Leading action based on lagging measures within a Quarter which you will learn in the following section.
- Question 8: What are your long term issues? A list of obstacles that may hinder your business from achieving its vision, or things that can help you get to the vision faster.

Step 3: Defining Lead Measures
Using Simplamo’s 90-days-GOAL feature to clarify and setting up your lead measures. There are 2 important things you must complete:
List your 90-day goals with detailed descriptions. You goal should start with a Verb and match with S.M.A.R.T format.
Break down the goals into key milestones.

Step 4: Designing the Scoreboard
Metrics feature on Simplamo is 5 to 15 health metrics including both lagging and leading indicators which can help you understand the entire rhythm of the organization, drive daily activities to achieve the effectiveness.
Numbers speak for themselves and eliminate assumptions, subjective opinions, emotions, and personal egos in daily conversations, turning your business into a scoreboard where you can see the health of your business or department.
It will show you what is efficient, inefficient, help you identify and solve problems before they become disasters.

Step 5: Conduct the Weekly Meeting
Once your data is full-filled, you and your team can Create a Cadence of Accountability by using Simplamo’s Weekly Meeting agenda to review the execution of goals and connect with the team.
The Weekly Meeting is simply having the right timing, with a consistent agenda to achieve 4 things:
- Ensuring all goals are being tracked.
- Maintaining a strong connection with the team.
- Hold each other accountable
- Addressing issues.
We also call it is 7-steps weekly meeting:
- Good news: Sharing personal & professional good news during a week
- Metrics review: Review the business health indicators (Metrics) for the week and extract any issues.
- Goals review: Review the progress of goal execution and extract any issues.
- Headlines: Record prominent feedback (both positive and negative) from customers, partners, suppliers, and internal staff.
- To-do: Review the action item list of last week
- Issue solving: Address issues raised by all participants during Sections 1 to 5 and any other important issues that have been added.
- Conclude: Summarize the to-do list to be addressed during the week, motivate the team, and evaluate the meeting's effectiveness.

Lead measures & Goal
Break down 1-year goal into specific actions within 90 days (lead measures) at Company level, answering the question: “What will you do?”
Break down 1-year goal into specific actions within 90 days at Department & Individual level.
Finally, adding Key Milestones to each of 90-day-goal to measure "how the goal is completed?".
Scoreboard and Metric
Design your Scoreboard and measure them weekly to make sure everything is tracked.
